Buildscout

From Lead Discovery to Actionable Opportunities

Designed a system that connects lead discovery with follow-through, enabling construction teams to track, qualify, and act on opportunities.

Designed a system that connects lead discovery with follow-through, enabling construction teams to track, qualify, and act on opportunities.

Construction teams rely on fragmented data to identify opportunities, but once outreach begins, there is no clear way to track responses or progress leads.

I designed a lightweight workflow that structures lead data into actionable states, helping teams move from discovery to decision within a single system.

Problem

Buildscout surfaces planning applications as leads, but stops short of helping teams act on them.

In practice, outreach and follow-up happen across different tools and contexts, making it difficult to track responses or maintain momentum.

As a result, leads are often lost or left unqualified, limiting the product’s ability to support real decision-making.

Approach

Early exploration showed that the problem wasn’t lead discovery, but what happens next.

Teams needed a way to capture responses, track progress, and decide what to do, without introducing the overhead of a full CRM.

I introduced a lightweight layer between discovery and conversion, structuring leads into clear, actionable states that reflect how opportunities progress in practice.

This became the foundation for a system that connects discovery with action.

Solution — Lead Workflow

The leads interface brings discovery and action into a single view.

Leads can be scanned, filtered, and updated in place, with key information such as status, recent activity, and next steps surfaced inline. This allows teams to quickly assess opportunities and decide what to do next without switching tools.

By keeping interactions lightweight and immediate, the interface supports fast decision-making in real working conditions.

This creates a clear progression model, helping teams move leads from discovery to action.

Lead Row Structure

Underneath the interface, a reusable lead row defines how information is structured, prioritised, and acted on.

Inline actions allow teams to update lead status and capture responses without breaking flow, while the consistent structure enables the system to scale across large datasets.

This ensures the product remains lightweight while supporting more complex workflows as usage grows.

Outcome

The redesign connects lead discovery with follow-through, enabling teams to track responses, prioritise opportunities, and take action within a single workflow.

It reduces reliance on external tools and extends the product from lead generation to supporting real decision-making.

It also demonstrates how structuring progression, not just data, can unlock value in products built around discovery.
